1. Goalkeeper Buffon is out. The last time NZ played Italy he was also out and NZ scored 3 times before losing 4-3.
2. NZ has a more effective defensive combination than the last time these 2 nations played.
3. Altitude. NZ played at Rustenburg on the high veldt. Italy’s opening match was at sea level against Paraguay. The ball will fly when these teams meet in Nelspruit (700m/2200ft above sea level) – look out for another NZ far post header.
4. North Korea. The last time North Korea made a World Cup was in 1966….when they were good enough to beat Italy. Italy are due another World Cup upset – it might as well be now against another supposed minnow, especially one that begins with the letter N!
5. Italy will write NZ off and NZ loves being written off.
Paying plenty at the TAB….worth a lazy $5 for the NZ win or 1-0 score pick.
Dare to dream!
