South African urinals have a lot of ice cubes in them. Possible reasons:-
1. Melting ice cubes is fun
2. Smell suppression
3. Encouragement of accuracy
4. The South African ice vending industry has a government subsidy to produce more ice than is required for domestic demand
5. Takes the winter game of "Snow pee" inside to warm conditions
Only danger with the ice cubes - splash back.
